Important Communication from

the LCFCA Board

The 2009 football season is fast approaching.  The Lake Cities Football and Cheerleading Association would like to announce a few changes for the upcoming football season.

Team Mascots

Since 1990, the Lake Cities area has grown 194%.  This growth has brought in many young children, growing our league into what it is today.  With the expansion of the I-35 corridor, future growth is anticipated.

Each year, more families join the league from the lake cities area as well as from Lewisville and Denton.  This growth has narrowed the gap between the Lake Dallas school district and the Denton school district.  Today, Lake Cities residents have children that attend both school districts who are members of the league.  The LCFCA recognizes this growth and has initiated plans to insure the league is meeting the needs of the community.

For the 2009 football season, the team mascot names will change.  The Head Coach of the football team will select a mascot from either the professional or college football teams.

The LCFCA has many long standing traditions with the Lake Dallas Falcons.  The league has strong commitments to continue its involvement with these traditions, and we look forward to another great year in 2009.

LCFCA Bi-laws

The LCFCA Board has developed bi-laws for the operation of the league.  The bi-laws will be published on the website over the next few weeks.

Coaching Point System

As the league has grown, more parents are volunteering to coach.  In the past, coaches have been selected based on seniority, which has had unintentional consequences for new coaches. This year, we are implementing a point system for Coaches which will include points for service, fundraising participation, and team success.  More information regarding the point system is located on our website at www.lcfca.org.

We trust the community will continue to support the league and the changes we have implemented this year.  We strongly feel this is the best long term approach to unite our growing community.
